Good suggestion, but no. None of the extensions have have installed were added recently (though I suppose some might have been updated - not sure how/when extensions get a virtual face lift). I tried disabling all extensions on my Windows-based Chrome at work. No change. I don't know what anti-virus software the company has installed, but I've been experiencing the same problem on my laptop, running Ubuntu 16.04LTS, and has no anti-virus software running that I know of.
