Make sure the address is not in your Gmail Contacts. (You know how to go to the Contacts area, right?) The address might be someone you knew, whose computer is infected or whose address is being 'spoofed'. Or maybe it's an address you responded to, once. Having an address in Contacts can keep those emails from automatically going to the spam box. 2. If you have any Filters, check that there isn't one that might be keeping those emails from going into spam. 3. I agree that you should not be deleting those messages right away. Let them sit in your spam box. You don't need to delete them at all! Just mark them as spam, and ignore them once marked. They will vaporize anyway after 30 days. > this has been happening every day for the last 3 days. all my marking it > as spam has done nothing to keep it from my inbox. what is going on please? > 4. Maybe this is folklore and subjective, but Gmail's spam filtering seems to look for patterns, rather than being instantaneous. So it might not change its rules right away. Three days is short -- even though it may seem like an eternity to you. This lets it be more forgiving, if you made a mistake. Give it a few more days to learn from your patterns. 5. There seem to be times when the spam filter just doesn't want to recognize new spam. A few years ago I had spam that were obvious to me but never recognized as such by Gmail's spam filters. 6. If the spam persists and is as frequent as you imply, creating a Filter, or blocking the sender, might be your best options. However, this prevents your spam filter from "learning" (which admittedly it doesn't seem to be doing very well yet).
