We have currently a plugin operational in JIRA that will periodically poll
our current GIT repositories and populate a list of commits linked to the
JIRA issue.
This is driven from JIRA, the GIT server knows nothing about that, the
developers only need to mention the JIRA issue in the commit message.

Now I have learned that GitLab EE has some type of active JIRA integration
that can even close JIRA tickets.

Does this mean that with GitLab we would not need the old GIT plugin in
JIRA anymore because GitLab would populate the list under the GIT Commit
tab for a given JIRA issue?
