Would an alternative be to have some sort of global config flag for "report bytes-based metrics"? Or "debug metrics" so that people can choose to turn them on to debug query plans but turn them off for production? We could document the tradeoffs, etc. there. We already have different categorizations (for verbosity and measured value lane) of metrics, maybe this fits into there (e.g. we make this metric a verbose only metric)? -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
