I have started a wire-compatible first step: an optional generator-level encode hook, `LazyMemoryExec::try_to_proto` delegating to it, and the built-in decode logic owned by `datafusion-functions-table`. Two scope details from the current code are worth separating: - The existing `GenerateSeriesNode` has one argument payload. Supporting multiple generators needs an additional representation; moving the hook alone cannot make that case round-trip while keeping the current bytes unchanged. - With fixed built-in dispatch (option 1), `datafusion-proto` still needs to call the decoder in `datafusion-functions-table`. Removing that dependency altogether would require a registration/injection mechanism, closer to option 2. I will keep that small decoder dependency and the existing single-generator wire format in the first change, with regression coverage for built-in types, extension fallback and malformed input.
