The layer preview GetMap requests are using the global WMS endpoint, if the style being edited is not in a workspace Workspace isolated layers are not reachable there (they are only from the workspace specific service). Isolated workspaces usage is pretty uncommon, typically used to publish the same INSPIRE theme multiple times from the same server (or so I hear, I never used them myself). Not surprised this did not come up before. Can you write a fix?
