Hi Tobias, nope, the template does not have access to the symbology. The source ingredients are there, but logic would be needed to determine the (possible multiple) symbolizer(s) applied to that feature during a render, collect them, associate them to the feature list given to the template, probably in the feature "user map", and provide methods to access them from the template. Overall, quite a bit of work on the GeoServer java side.
