Hi Daniel, Thanks for the useful summary for the workspaces / layers security; certainly this clears some things up in my head.
However as you also mention there still there is no need for many stores accessing with the same database user (i.e. test_user) the same database name (i.e. test_database), schema (i.e. test_schema). Upgrading the current Geoserver version to the latest is also top priority but need to untangle some of the configuration that I don't understand yet!
