GeoServer 2.0.2 had a memory leak in WFS DescribeFeatureType, a slow one,
but if your server
handles enough WFS requests 3 days may well be enough.
An upgrade to GeoServer 2.1.x series is very much recommended, that leak has
been fixed in
the meantime
