I've been able to set a truly massive resolution..for yrs. I like flopping around on a huge desktop. Its a resolution my vid card is not even capable of... not sure how it works.. but I've used it literally for yrs. In /etc/X11/xorg.conf I have: (The: `DefaultDepth 24' line and the: `Virtual 2048 1536' are the keys.
