I think that the localization guide refers to /etc/locale.gen which uses the format: <locale> <charmap> So, de_DE.UTF-8 is the locale (as shown in /usr/share/i18n/locales/) and UTF-8 is the character map (as shown in /usr/share/i18n/charmaps/). -- Regards, Mick
