Each of my five boxes has a small Gentoo rescue system in a spare partition, intended for just this kind of use. However, in every case, when I attempt to chroot into the main system from the rescue system I get a permission-denied error. Exactly the same chroot command works as expected if I've booted an installation CD. Rather defeats the object of having a rescue system. -- Rgds Peter
