I'm mostly the same way myself. The data was provided to me in a CSV file which made me think about spreadsheets. I really didn't expect to get an answer when I wrote the Open Office user's list but the response I got was very detailed and probably took me less time to do implement what I asked about than it took the guy who responded to write the instructions.
