Something I noticed with a laptop, power usage seemed to reduce using slab over slub which was counter intuitive. Need to spend a few hours and recheck - would be nice if some else can confirm it.
and I am back on reiserfs after an ext3 disaster(s). YMMV :) that was at least two years ago but it was so traumatic I am not going back!
