I know gdm, which I use, lists session managment options like Fluxbox and KDE based on the presence of startup scripts in some folder somewhere in /etc/X11. The ebuild should put them there, but I'm not sure, especially for kdm, what that entails or whether it'll actually be done in your case. You might be able to set up a custom script in ~/.xession to start up windowmaker, if you can figure out how to do so from the command line, and then select the "custom" option if the windowmaker ebuild doesn't support adding itself to the kdm menu.
