I did not get that working until I put the fqdn in /etc/hosts, although I'm still thinking that there should be some other (better?) way. You have to create some udev rules to tie device names to MAC addresses. Search the archives of this mailing list and you'll find a few threads about this problem (with the solutions, of course).
