From what I understand, Linux memory isn't freed up until it is full.
Is there a way to find out how much memory is actively in use? It would also be useful to know the maximum amount of memory that was actively in use over a given period of time.
Also, I've noticed in top that when my server's 2GB of memory is filled, it uses a small amount of swap (~24k) before it frees some up. The "Swap: 24k" then remains. Is that normal? - Grant -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
