I used to use Screen all the time on a UoT IRIX system back in the 1990s, when I was too underfunded to buy an upto-date machine & accessed my university account from my little Sanyo XT . Once I had built a fairly good machine & started to use Linux in 2000 , I no longer had any need for Screen, as KDE desktops did it all. Moreover, all that 'control-a' stuff was a big pain in the head. So I tried Screen, but didn't like it on my Linux desktop ... (grin) But you're quite correct to recommend it to anyone who wants to switch between local/remote accesses to a box or to login/out with a box which is left running in the meantime. -- ========================,,============================================ SUPPORT ___________//___, Philip Webb : [EMAIL PROTECTED] ELECTRIC /] [] [] [] [] []| Centre for Urban & Community Studies TRANSIT `-O----------O---' University of Toronto -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
