One is the old, big package, the other is for the meta packages. You can 
only have one.

You don't need to. Put variables INPUT_DEVICES and VIDEO_CARDS 
into /etc/make.conf.

emerge -C xorg-x11; emerge xorg-x11 (or -puDNv world).
