smartmontools does in fact support SATA disks starting with kernel 2.6.15.Use the '-d ata' argument with SATA disks and it will work fine. For example: # smartmontools -d ata -a /dev/sda -- Raymond Lewis Rebbeck -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
