thanks, I ended up "unhiding" the main panel as soon as I logged in (the "Dock Application Bar" didn't show up till a bit later) so I can now access kontrol, etc. However, I still can't get rid of it. Oh wait, I can get rid of it by right clicking on the main panel and selecting "remove panel". So what's the "dock application bar" for anyway?
