That will result in the program being recompiled from scratch again. emerge -n will add it to thew world file without recompilation if it is already installed. You can also do "echo category/package >>/var/lib/portage/world", which is what i did before I discovered emerge -n, but using emerge seems more portage-friendly and less likely to screw things up with a typo. -- Neil Bothwick Engineers do it with less resistance.
