Howdy,

I did my weekly backups overnight.  I had a lot of new files.  I was wondering tho, can I generate a checksum or something for the directory on my main rig and then generate it for my backup copy and then compare the two checksum results?  I see it can do a individual file but don't see anything for a entire directory.  I'd need to do this on the command line tho.  My NAS box doesn't have a GUI.  Basically, I'm wanting to confirm that everything transferred over and no corruption or data loss.

While at it, how long would it take to do a directory that is about 42TBs in size?  If it would take a long time to do it that way, is there a faster way to make sure the files match in a fairly quick way?

Also, I use rsync to copy the files to the NAS box.  Maybe it can do some sort of check while copying the files over???

Basically, I'm wanting to do my backups and then make sure the file didn't get corrupted somehow.  What is a fairly quick way to do that?  If any.

Thanks.

Dale

P. S.  Old rig is still off.  My backups took most of the night, plus I updated the OS on the NAS box too.   The old rig was compiling away when I had to stop it tho.  Still no idea how the profile got messed up.
