Hello, Gentooers, I just tried opening gramps after a very long period of disuse. It fails to open and gives this error message:

I am up to date with portage, and running gramps-6.0.4, which was
updated Nov 10, 2025 from gramps-5.2.3. Gramps was built with these

https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Install_latest_BSDDB/tr
suggests that the latest versions of gramps have encountered database
problems and that upgrading sys-libs/db and python interfaces to db
have helped. Their suggested db version is not supported by gentoo.
And their suggested python interface, dev-python/berkeleydb, is not
brought in by gramps-6.0.4.
Before I dive deeply down a rabbit hole to fix this, has anybody
encountered such a problem with gramps? Any suggestions on next steps?
Thanks!

Happy New Year From The Med Plan Store!
We hope your 2026 is off to a great start! Below are some important updates to be aware of as we begin the new year.
2026 Part D Drug Coverage Resets January 1st
If you have any Part D drug coverage -- either a stand-alone Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage HMO/PPO plan with drug benefits -- your coverage resets every January 1st.
What this means for you:
- You may see higher costs early in the year, especially for brand name medications.
- This continues until you meet your plan's prescription drug deductible (up to $615 in 2026).
- After the deductible (if applicable), you wil pay a copay (a flat dollar amount) or coinsurance (a percentage of the cost)...based on your plan's coverage design.
- The maximum you will spend out-of-pocket on covered drugs in 2026 is $2,100 (including the deductible).
For full details, visit our How Medicare Part D Works page.
WellCare Value Script Rx Part D Plan
(For residents of OH, KY, IN, TN, NC)
If you've been enrolled in the WellCare Value Script Rx plan since prior to 2026, and you live in one of the states listed above, your plan's premium is no longer $0 in 2026.
Because of this, many of you have already received a coupon booklet from WellCare to make payment for the plan premium. This is the default payment method, even if you had automatic payment setup in the past.
Action Required: Please make your premium payment before the end of January to avoid a lapse in coverage.
Payment options include...
- Mailing a monthly check (or one check for the full year)
- Calling WellCare Member Services (phone number on your ID card) to pay or setup auto bank draft, credit card billing, or Social Security deduction
- Creating an account at wellcare.com to pay online or switch to automatic billing
Reminder: Original Medicare Has No Network
Last month, we mentioned the negotiations between United Healthcare and TriHealth in the Cincinnat area. Ultimately, they came to an agreement on 12/31/25. Crisis averted.
But those of you who have Original Medicare with a United Healthcare Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan were never affected by this.
When you have Original Medicare and a Medigap plan, you don't have a network. You can see any medical provider who accepts Original Medicare. And if they do, they have to also accept your Medigap plan with ANY insurance carrier.
Networks only apply to plans like Medicare Advantage, Marketplace (healthcare.gov), and Employer group health.
