Assuming you're not running some media player application at the time, have you checked lsof? I have the same problem with a spinning drive. It is a matter of time after I run 'hdparm -Y /dev/sda' before something wakes it up again. I'm guessing udev is probing it, but can't find any evidence of it. :-/
