I assume you're on unstable? ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" USE="-doc -libffi -ncurses emerge -pv =sys-devel/llvm-10.0.1 ...does indeed pull in sphinx. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that Lennart is behind this.
