Looking for anyone that can offer advice on connecting a Motorola C380 mobile phone to my gentoo Linux system via the USB interface.
When I connect the phone, I see the following in /var/log/messages: usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2 usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 A disconnect and reconnect produces: usb 1-2: USB disconnect, address 3 usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4 usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 Any idea what the error messages indicate, and should I be worried about them? Is it normal that the addresses appear to be monotonically increasing with each successive connect? While connected, /proc/bus/usb/devices contains: T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 7 Spd=12 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=02(comm.)
