Thanks for the various suggestions. I solved the problem by unmerging Gtk+ Mesa Cairo Libdrm Xorg-server, after which Libdrm compiled successfully. BTW there's a rather bizarre dependency : the stable Mesa-10.2.8 requires the testing Cairo-1.12.18 .
