Hi, I had the same problem. Managed to solve it following way: 1. make sure that skype process not running 2. Backup your ~home/.skype and than delete it. 3. Start skype normally.
This way you loose all history which was stored on your PC, but skype runs normally. You can restore chats history from backup you made earlier.
