I don't think there's much difference. I've only started doing AMD64 installs in the last year or so, maybe 2 or 3 of them in total, and I don't seem to be doing anything different. Just google "gentoo quick install guide" and follow that - it's marked as for x86, but I've been following it for AMD64, too. Stroller.
