Are you using procmail for delivery? If so, you need MAILDIR=/var/spool/mail

DEFAULT=$MAILDIR/$LOGNAME/
at the top of /etc/procmailrc

Hm, that sounds interesting. I really want to have mails on a separate
partition. Thanks for the tip, I will have a look at it...
