No. I did rebuild emacs with xft support, but I had already manually done the "customize-face" for "variable-pitch", so I don't know if xft support would have fixed the problem or not (I imagine it probably would have, since that's what the lisp code in faces.el seems to imply). -- Grant Edwards grant.b.edwards Yow!
