Hi, thanks for your answer, i did run ranlib on both libraries and nothing happen, the error messages are still there, but when did the second: # ranlib /usr/lib/modules/libfb.a it start appearing a "Password:" message below the others, so i try starting with root (wich never try before cause nothing tells me that maybe was a permission issue) and voila! there it was my X window system. So the problem was that in the middle of the fury of upgrades nvidia-glx was re-emerged and it has changed the permissions of /dev/nvidia* I have it now like this: $ ls /dev/nvidia* crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 195, 0 jul 4 01:22 /dev/nvidia0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root video 195, 255 jul 4 01:22 /dev/nvidiactl And have X. It's ok this? Or maybe i have to leave it chmod 640 and put my user in video group? -- Fernando Canizo - LUGMen: www.lugmen.org.ar - A8N: a8n.lugmen.org.ar *** PUBLIC flooding detected from erikyyy <lewnie> THAT's an erik, pholx.... ;) yy -- Seen on #LinuxGER -- [email protected] mailing list
