Right. I've resisted that option as I don't want to be an ebuild maintainer of any sort. Presuming I did that wouldn't I also have to pay attention to new versions of Gnome coming out and update my ebuild over time? If new dependencies were added for Gnome-2.12 I'd have to add or remove things in my ebuild.
