What kernel was this under, and what kernel are you using now? In the very early days of 2.6, one really had to explicitly run ide-cd (the replacement for ide-scsi) in order to get things working, but again, we are far beyond that now. Ide-cd is automatically compiled into the kernel (you don't even get to choose it, it's just there), and /dev/hdc (assuming that that's where your CD/DVD burner is) will use it when it is detected to be a writeable device during the boot process. So again, I ask what precisely your issue is.... what goes wrong when you try to burn a CD or DVD? What commands are you using to do so, and what type of disk are you trying to create (a bootable ISO? a data disk? a SVCD? an audio disk)? If we knew that, maybe we'd know where to start looking for a misconfiguration or missing backend subsystem. Holly -- [email protected] mailing list
