After a lot of testing and testing of different methods to make backups I reached a conclution of what I need, but I don't know if it's possible. I want to do an rsync of the server directories I want but locally, it should end up in a tared file (it doesn't need to be compressed). I need it on a tared file because I want to preserve permissions, so, restoring the backup won't be a pain. I want rsync because I need to make it incremental, if not, I'll kill my server's bandwidth, at last I need to reach root privileges by sudoing. Is this possible ? if not, is there any workarround that you know that might help me (like taring the dirs on the server and syncing that) ?
