You're welcome.

Each has it's pros and cons so I'd suggest looking at them and checking past posts for some discussions. To be honest, I've just started looking at this myself but got sidetracked on other issues I have to solve on my system. I know Mark Knecht has been working on this - one of the threads he started.

As I understand it vnc is like a remote desktop (and there is an rdesktop that lets you get to Windows boxes) control in that you can take over a machine and control it remotely. I've used it on Windows boxes before so I didn't have to physically go to the box. If you want to run X apps you need to use X to run apps on another machine that show up on your display, keyboard, etc. - that's different than vnc.

Thanks Brett I did find some good stuff. I want to be able to do something in the style of vnc. It sounds like I should set up realvnc, tightvnc, or use NX. Do these each have ups and downs I should figure out before choosing one, or is one generally better than another?
