Hi! I'm running an xdm/xfce4 combination (I tried gdm first but I don't like it's dependencies). One of my problems is that the startup-script is run twice:
petekarl 8494 8468 0 13:09 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /etc/xfce4/xinitrc petekarl 8524 8494 0 13:09 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /etc/xfce4/xinitrc It seems like the first process is starting the second one, but I can't find where it is started... The other issue I have is: why does gimp depend on gnome-stuff? When I do 'emerge -p gimp' I get: [ebuild N ] gnome-extra/libgsf-1.9.0 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/librsvg-2.8.1 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/orbit-2.12.0 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/gconf-2.8.1-r1 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/gnome-mime-data-2.4.2 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/libbonobo-2.8.0 [ebuild N ] gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.8.3-r1 [ebuild N ] gnome-extra/libgtkhtml-2.6.0 [ebuild R ] media-gfx/gimp-2.0.4 My USE="... -gnome -orbit ...". I haven't noticed any problems with running gimp (if run from cli apps usually complain about not finding this and that and in worst case doesn't run but gimp is silent it also seems stable when using it). Another problem is whenever I do 'emerge -Du world' I get all these gnome dependencies. Would there be a problem updating gimp if I masked them (if possible).
