type "file boot.ftp" to see what type of file it really is (try "man

Hi all, this is not a gentoo specific question.. I hope anybody can give me an answer anyway :-)
I hava a file boot.ftp, and in the manual of the software it says "copy boot.ftp to /temp and unzip it to /temp"
Now, how can I unzip this file? Simply "unzip boot.ftp" won't work at all... Any suggestions?

Best regards, Christoph

Hi, this helped..
It says boot.ftp: POSIX tar archive
So what do I have to use to extract the files in there?

Thanks and best regards, Christoph
