sys-kernel/gs-sources-2.4.23_pre8-r1 on 3 systems. All have lost their IP address at some stage. No logging that I have been able to identify shows any problem.
Symptom is suddenly there is no network. Running ifconfig shows it as up, but no IP, or broadcast addresses. Starting and stopping the interface usually works, but sometimes a fixed IP has to be allocated first by ifconfig to a dhcp configured nic. One systems has a fixed IP (eth0) and one has eth2 as dhcp with two other nics (0 and 1) with fixed IP's (only eth2 shows the problem) and a dell laptop, which is either fixed or dhcp depending on site. nics are 3Com, rtl8139 and tulip based cards Anyone else seen this. It only started with this kernel. weird! BillK -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
