Last time I saw that my kernel dumped the CPU registers and halted because of bad memory. I didn't understand what was going on at first because I was in X when the kernel output the messages to the console and you can't very well switch to a VT with a halted system. I only realized what was going on after working in a VT and the kernel doing it again. You might want to run memtest86 (run all tests) off the Gentoo 1.4 CD. Don't boot the systems again until you have verified the memory is good because you could corrupt the filesystems. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
