Well my card is a nvidia one but I had a similar problem with video
disappearing after some hours of system uptime. I would get a black
window with the sound playing just fine and xine and mplayer wouldn't
complain at all (which was weird). I found out that the console
framebuffer was the cause for all that. I hope that helps!
