Thanks for the tips, but unfortunately neither the xset idea nor the filter
idea worked. The Gimp still refuses to acknowledge the truetype fonts that
all the other apps (KDE and Gnome) recognize.
I know that at one point I had some TT support in The Gimp. The Logo on my web
page was created using it. So I don't know what happened.
