The problem is not security, the problem is that there is no maintainer for rolo and it's deps. Maintainer should unmask the package but seems that nobody of gentoo developers want to maintain it and I can understand them ;). rolo has dead upstream as there was no new releases for more then 3 years. This means that to fix any bug maintainer has to look into sources, and fix it by himself... No joy if you are not using this application. Thus currently the best solution is to unmask it locally as it was already told you and may be even copy dev-libs/libvc mail-client/mutt-vc-query app-misc/rolo into your local overlay, as if this situation persist rolo could be removed from portage completely.
