A change of the version/-revision format certainly requires an EAPI change; one must also define rules how to compare these versions, etc. (despite it is obvious, here). Please be aware that on the corresponding bug there is already the request to keep minor revisions for sub-distributions of gentoo; so maybe instead of minor revisions one should think about anpther suffix (besides -r...) or another format: This would simulateneously avoid the problem of $PF discussed earlier - by definition, this additional suffix would not appear in $PF.
