Not exactly the same. In fact, your combination is better, as it solves the 
issue mentioned by Ciaran when saying:

> it would be last minute.

So, in the case of the combination, the user would see the item directly, in 
the case of Display-If-Upgrading-From-To the user would only see it if he 
really wants to upgrade, which is "last minute".
