I thing I had the same problem after upgrade from 2004.3 to 2005.0
profile. All 64bit apps worked nice, but 32bit games not and cedega too.

I thing I fixed it by reemerging nvidia-glx driver. I didn't have some
32bit libraries in place. Now I run hl2 with no problem. Try to search
forum for that err message and your profile.
