Hi,

I share Chris’s concern in general. We’ve seen in other projects how
region-specific chat platforms can gradually become the de facto place for
discussion, even when the original intent is only outreach. They can also limit
growth outside of a single region.

That said, it’s encouraging that BifroMQ has been clear about keeping official
discussions and decisions on the mailing list. If they continue to actively
reinforce that, I think they can gain the benefits of broader outreach while
still being within ASF norms.

As Jarak pointed out in a recent email, if anything comes on the WeChat channel
that should be on the mailing list, move the conversation there, even if
instant messaging is more convenient.

Kind Regards,
Justin
