Hi. I've put together two new guides based on five years of ASF Incubator reports from 2019 to 2024. They are: - Mentor Engagement Patterns [1]: This guide explores how mentoring impacts podling health, independence, and graduation. It also points out common engagement patterns and types of lifecycles. - Mentor Trends [2]: This guide sums up long-term changes in podling challenges and mentor focus areas over time. It shows there are now fewer release issues and better governance. I created both guides by analysing the text and metadata from Incubator reports. I utilised Python scripts and AI tools to ensure consistency in the results across the large dataset.
The guides are based only on what’s available in public reports. They don’t cover mentoring that happens on mailing lists or off-list (obviously), so the findings should be seen as general guidance. Both guides are here to support mentor development, IPMC oversight, and training improvements. As always, I’d appreciate your feedback.
