Fair question!

Hamilton was named from the confluence of three things:
 - the team it was originally built for was the F.E.D. (forecasting
estimation and demand team) --> Alexander Hamilton created the Federal
reserve, or "FED" for short.
 - the team was modeling the world, i.e. the business -> Hamiltonian
concepts there in physics.
 - we're doing some graph theory -> Hamiltonian concepts in graph theory.
Q.E.D. Hamilton 😆.
Since then, I have also learned there was a Hamilton at NASA on software
correctness, and there is Lewis Hamilton the F1 driver who wins via
consistent lap/iteration speed, both of which would also fit the project's
goals 😂 ...

Hamilton can't do everything, so we created another framework to handle the
things it can't do. We weren't sure whether it was a competitor or
complement. So we went with the tongue-and-cheek name of Burr. A few
more details
here
<https://github.com/dagworks-inc/burr?tab=readme-ov-file#-why-the-name-burr>,
but we seen them working harmoniously together rather than head on
competing. It also happens to be a good way to remember the projects (if
you know your American history).

HTH. Cheers,

Stefan
